Hackney celebrated the rugby world cup coming to London in style by hosting the Attic storage 10's tournament. We were very pleased to welcome Barnet Elizabethians, Hampstead  and London French rugby clubs down to Spring Hill with the Gladies also hosting Stanford Le Hope ladies for a preseason friendly and the Hackney Bulls getting a rare chance to show what they can do on a Saturday.

The first game ever played by Hackney RFC

Hackney RFC owes much of its origin to now sadly deceased Jim Smith. Jim was an ex-army man, a prop for Saracens, and games teacher at Woodberry Downs Comprehensive school. It was Jim’s idea to form a rugby team comprised of the Old Boys of the school, all of whom Jim had coached. Thus, in 1965, the Old Griffins team was born.
