Hackney 3rd XV 28 - 12 Verulamians 3rd XV

Written by: Jon Wood

The side with the roman name arrived at springhill this Saturday to try and break Hackneys formidable home record. They were a talented side but no match for a Gogsquad back on form.

The visitors potency was expertly decommissioned by a pack wrought from steely Gogness. A blend of skill, desire, belief found form and under the direction of Owain, back to his demonic best, dominated possession.
The Verulamians backrow, their finest asset, were out played practically all game.

Despite the ball belonging mainly to Hackney the visitors back line defence was difficult to break. JP at fly half was put under great pressure finding it hard to play the expansive game the backs are capable of. He did well to hold up the ball and was accurate with his kicking game allowing Hackney to build up enough pressure to eventually break through.

A game enjoyed by all on another perfect day down at Springhill

MOTM: Owain: Scored twice, controlled the game at scrum half

Special Mentions:(Both nominees for MOTM) Jamie Olsen: Great addition to the front row, solid in the set piece , carries well and good at the breakdown. Excellent 60/70 mins.
Eimhin, playing out of position again, worked hard all game.
